Sister Sox

A pair of sister sox 

For no apparent reason 

To carry on your journey when 

The two of you are breezin-

Through the lush green of Hawaii 

Or Alaska glaciers tall 

The sister sox are ready for

Adventure when you call! 

Although the sister sox will not 

Always sit side by side 

They sit and wait upon the shelf 

For Toads next wild ride. 

I hope this will become something

You plan and plot each year

And when you're old the sister sox 

Will whisper in your ear,

remember your adventures with 

The other sister sock? 

They hold you two together

 Your sister hearts to lock.

Up-cycled Crystal Chandelier
 I went shopping for a beautiful light, but the one I wanted was 600$, so I decided I could make one!
This one is made of:
Old copper from a telephone line found in the little woods behind our house, coat hangers, necklaces, crystal wine glasses, salt shaker, earrings, mosaic glass, beads from Israel, ribbons, Christmas tree ornaments, and an old ladies scarf. All recycled stuff, and I love adding to it when I find more goodies!

Art Journal

I had such a great time making this art journal/ sketchbook out of leftover paper, and bits of stuff! Sewed the signatures, laced them together with string, cut the edges so it would somewhat resemble a book, and covered it with some great old fabric! Oh ya, ready for some serious creativity.

Sweater bag

Sometimes there is nothing as comforting as cutting up your old favorite too small sweater, and making a purse of it. I loved this zip up sweater, and used it. I lined it with some old silky fabric, and a bit of cut up kimono silk. This was fun!

Good morning. I just realized there are no rugs on my blog. Now what is a blog without rugs I ask? Nothing but cold feet.  So here are a couple hooked rugs that I had a great time making.

Vinyl!

Oh what fun, what a delight, the studio was messy with fabric tonight!

I bought this bit of red vinyl at the fabric store a month ago, and have been waiting to finish the walkers to break out the sewing machine. To be truthful, the other bag was supposed to be the lining, but was way too big, and I just liked it too much to hide it inside a bag.

The only things recycled on the red bag are the button that I bought at a flea market in Paris, and the very thick black thread. It is a very old spool of Lyseth thread that I rescued from Grandmothers sewing box. Now the other bag is all up-cycled from upholstery samples, and a bit of our wonderful vinyl.

I might do a couple more bags before I start painting Giuseppe.

Upcycled blanket!

Oh what fun, oh what a delight, to crawl under a blanket I made tonight!

This is actually a new/old living room couch blanket I made from bits of old fabric. You may see a bit of a purse you have, or some of a tablecloth, or the back is just an old faded curtain from a garage sale. It is amazing what comfort there is in creating even the most basic of things!

My favorite bags to make are up-cycled from used mens wool coats. They are even pre lined, and pre pocketed!

Here is an example of some of the purses I have made. Most are upcycled from used clothing or from ends of upholstery fabric. This is so fun for me to do!
